We have put almost every document related with PoP strategy in the shared folder of google docs. This include the fundamental information such as details of PoP Grama Panchayats, PERT chart, progress with the application and many more. Every PoP Cell member and only them, will be able to access these information from anywhere and also update the documents in realtime. Hope that this will be improving our efficiency in the implementation.

Disclaimer : These views are purely mine, immediate reflections arising out of my short visit. Any offence to any one is not intended.

I just wish that today's MMS meeting may be the worst ever meeting of any MMS. I am confused that what and why and how it go wrong. For sometime, I felt that I was in front of a crumbling building and I am just standing and witnessing the fall of it. May be I was a bit too emotional...

I remember reading somewhere that " when the individual want/wish rides over the needs of the collective, then it is the end of that collective". I think this is what I saw it today. None of the VO OB wants to change, none of the MMS OB wants to change, there are 9 VO that are not yet registered, out of the 15 VO attended of 32 VO, more than 9 VO repayment is poor. Nothing of this was discussed, why the VOs are absent, during the VO wise discussions most of them said that their VO meeting was conducted and they are depositing so and so amount. The MMS OB/staff /accountant did not ask(check) if the depositing amount was equal to the installment that the VO has to pay. When this exercise was done later, it came out clearly that the amount being paid is less than or equal to the interest and no question of repayment of principal amount. To my astonishment, the VO of MMS President is the biggest defaulter amongst the present. As she walked away from the meeting, there was no one to answer.

What I am trying to understand is that where did we think differently (i dont want to think that we were /are wrong)?
  • in creating enough stakes for the individual , when they are part of big collective
  • in sensitizing the CBOs
  • in sensitizing my staff towards their response to CBOs
  • in strictly implementing the rules laid down by these very CBOs, by CBOs with the help of staff
may be many more...but these come to my mind.

Though I felt that the it was a half glass empty scenario, the positive points of this MMS, is that there are very few groups (15 of 500 groups as per the information given by the attended VO presidents), that are non functioning. They have accepted the fact that very few SHGs are having weekly meeting, but they also reiterated with same confidence, that almost all the other SHGs are having the meetings at least once in a month.

One more thing that I felt strongly, that this MMS EC did not realize the importance of the role/part played by them, in the bigger space, it may be the DPMU,ZS or SERP. This I feel is due to lack of shared vision. Unless I realise that I am part of much bigger idea/concept/outcome, I will have a tunnel vision and stop at my door. I think we should work at this.

As in all the cases, everyone comes and says but who will do?

In this case we should facilitate the change, I should put in effort at least to make them realise that they have much bigger role to play to achieve IKP vision.
